our experience

Studio Archibene is a full service architecture and design firm. Our founding principals have practiced architecture in the Raleigh/Durham area for nearly three decades. We have served communities throughout North Carolina and worked with clients across North America in cities such as Vancouver, Los Angeles, Detroit, Austin, and Atlanta. We have a well-established portfolio in the planning and design of cultural, civic, and higher ed projects as well as medical and corporate office buildings. However, we believe the principles of great design are not bound by project typologies. We are generalists in the sense that all project designs – large, small, complex, or simple - are about bringing people together around shared experiences.  Cultural:  Our cultural work includes museums, institutions, and cultural landscapes that celebrate communities and their shared experiences. We provide planning, programming, renovation, and new design for both fine art and exhibit based museums.    Civic:  Our civic work ranges from public libraries to community recreation centers and visitor centers. Every town and neighborhood have distinct characteristics that inspire a unique design and celebration of place.  Higher Ed:  Our higher ed experience includes planning and design for a variety of programs that champion academic discovery and student success, including spaces for student recreation, teaching, research, departmental administration and faculty, and medical sciences.  Office:  Our corporate and medical office designs create practical and resilient environments that elevate brand, workplace efficiency, and talent satisfaction. Community Engagement:  Our design process very often begins with robust community engagement workshops that inform our work and establish a strong co-create relationship with those who the project is to serve. We have extensive experience engaging historically disenfranchised and underserved communities in a process of healing and affirmation of their lived experiences through design. These engagements become the foundation for a more empowering, inclusive, and equitable design process that continues for the life of the project.  Stakeholder Engagement:  Our stakeholder engagements are very often about discovering the distinctions and commonalities of various affinity groups within an organization in pursuit of programming and design that will support each while also creating shared experiences for all.
